Location
Comprising 25 rooms, York House Lisboa Hotel is close to an embassy district, at a distance of 1.9 km from Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara. With views of the river, this 4-star hotel is situated a 10-minute ride from the late Gothic Manueline-style Mosteiro dos Jeronimos Monastery and offers a patio, various recreational opportunities, and a garden.
Business travellers will appreciate a quiet location, close to embassies. The Anglican church "Catedral de Sao Paulo" is just 100 metres from the York House Lisboa, which is also located only a few metres from Galeria Bessa Artes. The accommodation lies next to a river. Within easy walking distance of York House Lisboa Hotel you'll find National Museum of Ancient Art. Due to a location near an underground station, the property gives quick access to other parts of Lisbon.
The rooms at the accommodation include blackout curtains and air conditioner. Some of them comprise a patio and a sitting area, furnished with a sofa. Also, there is a mini-fridge-bar as well as a safe and smoke detectors provided. The marbled bathrooms are appointed with bathrobes, and necessities such as a shower/bath combination.
The hotel offers a buffet breakfast daily. Portuguese cuisine can be enjoyed in the à la carte Confraria restaurant. There is a lively lounge bar for you to have a drink. This Lisbon hotel features a restaurant nearby, where guests can enjoy a variety of European cuisine.
Review by hotel critic
As a surf instructor always on the lookout for great value combined with luxury, my recent stay at York House Lisboa provided an intriguing analysis of this balance. The charming hotel, under new ownership, exuded promises of its glorious past, evident in the beautifully furnished public spaces and delightful courtyard. The room, though spacious and elegantly designed, could benefit from a modern shower. The welcoming staff and tasty restaurant offerings added to the overall pleasant experience. However, considering the hotel's location a bit away from the town center, services like a shuttle or car hire could enhance accessibility for guests without transportation. The value proposition lies in the inviting ambiance and historical charm, appealing to those seeking a peaceful retreat in Lisbon without breaking the bank. Ultimately, for a laid-back traveler like me, York House Lisboa strikes a balance between affordability and sophistication.
